Mark Kemp's Dixie Lullaby - which is sort of Mark's own personal history of being a white Southern rock and roll fan throughout the 70's and 80's - includes some of the most moving writing I've ever read about REM and Michael Stipe.

And if any is reading this, I'll also recommend Quincy Jones' autobiography for its chapter on Michael Jackson's Thriller and We Are The World.
