Friend and colleague David Shengold e-mailed this morning to report that the Gotham Chamber Opera performance of Albert Herring was still scheduled to go on this afternoon -- as of about 10am, anyway. Since I've just spent the last three hours shoveling snow, however, someone will have to tell me how it went. Sadly, I can't make it to any of the remaining performances (February 14, 16 and 18).
And as I peer through the tiny corner of my apartment's front window that isn't coated in frost and watch the snow continue to swirl, I can't say I'm very optimistic about catching the School of Rock All-Stars playing an evening of King Crimson songs with Adrian Belew later tonight at the Knitting Factory... ah, wait: It's been cancelled, according to the club's website.
Bummer.
