Oh PUH-leeze! This sort of hybrid performance is happening all the time in NYC. AND in more extreme combinations with more provocative results.
I know I sound like a hater - but this all reads like some PR agency's idea of how to "cross-market" their client to a readership (excepting your blog's readers of course) who would never travel to a club to hear music unless they read about it in Time Out and only if the club was in a safe gentrified area of Manhattan.
Sorry for the crankiness. You do cover so many kinds of music makers in this city that are pushing the envelope in terms of collaboration and audience expansion.
