I'm way, way behind on my blogging, again. I've got three Times reviews stacked up waiting to be archived here. But at the very least, I can endeavor to make time for the really big news: Alex Ross has started a new blog, Unquiet Thoughts, on the New Yorker web site. ("Joined the home team," is how fellow NYer musicker Sasha Frere-Jones put it on Twitter.) His explanation for doing so can be found at The Rest Is Noise. Go, see. And blogroll the new site. Like I'm going to right now, before I get distracted.

The unique programming offered in the Austrian Cultural Forum's little gem of a recital hall is easily overlooked, but shouldn't be: Worthy concerts happen there regularly, and practically all of them are presented free of charge. Coming soon: Music by Japanese modernist Toshio Hosokawa gets a rare local showcase, courtesy of the excellent JACK Quartet, on October 8 at 7:30pm. I won't be there, but would be if I could.
