Welcome back, my friends, to the show that repeatedly ends.
Late June and early July were a time of uncertainty, with several disparate, largely unrelated issues and agendas conspiring to take up my attention. During the last week, though, a few key distractions were resolved at last. One tangible result, though perhaps not one of the more important ones, is a renewed intention to make use of this sadly neglected blog. (I briefly mulled a shift over to the Tumblr platform, but the obvious URL was already occupied.)
The next post you'll see will gather and briefly recap my New York Times articles and reviews that have appeared since my last update of that sort: my Billy Bang obituary of April 17, just two posts back. A few more of these retroactive digests will follow in time; I'm not going to force myself to try to do everything all at once. The "My Back Pages" project I brightly announced in March remains in play, as well.
Anyone who knows me knows that a lack of things to do has never been among my concerns. But I've also never lacked for an overflow of concepts, ideas and simple observations that don't quite fit the confines of my two regular outlets or my Twitter flow. Here is where they belong; getting them here is mostly a matter of renewed discipline.
Let's see how this goes. Again.
