Olivier Latry at Alice Tully Hall
The New York Times, November 14, 2011
As noted in this review, a small but steady trickle of patrons departed from this concert from about the 10-minute mark forward. You have to wonder just what it was they thought they were getting into with a 75-minute continuous program of Messiaen's organ music…
Oh hahahaha.
I am a fan, but St. Francois, especially Act II, nearly traumatized me. I thought it was about three hours long and nearly fainted when I discovered only 90 minutes had passed.
As I said to a friend by IM later that night, St. Francois makes Parsifal feel like Die Fledermaus.
