Baroque opera and dance, for the second time in a week. Someone wants me to earn my pay. Also, not that anyone asked, but here's an instance in which I'm taking myself to task for not writing more clearly and precisely. The reference to "almost uniformly fine work from the Maya Trio and the Gotham Chamber Opera Early Instrument Ensemble" isn't as precise as it might be; in fact, all of the playing by Maya was superb, the Gotham ensemble was very fine, and the only thing I really meant to complain about were a few instances of shaky ensemble and a subpar solo performance or two. What I stated was technically factual, but didn't offer as fair a representation as it should have.
