Emerson String Quartet at Alice Tully Hall, March 23, 2014
The New York Times, March 26, 2014
My first time to see and hear the Emersons with their new cellist, Paul Watkins. Nice to know that it all still works, and that youngblood has lit a new fire in his crew.
Glad to know they sounded good. I heard them last spring and then this fall. The new cellist does bring a nice energy to the group, but their intonation in both programs was painful to listen to at times, which was especially evident in pieces with more exposed tonality - like Mozart and Mendelssohn.
